💡A new Wellness Sunday idea for you..

Hey hey Reader,

Happy Sunday! Today, I’ve got a simple kitchen trick that packs a serious punch for your health. Next time you cook with garlic, onions, shallots, or scallions, take a few extra minutes to do this quick trick to help maximize your cancer-fighting potential.

Today's Wellness Sunday Tip

Cut, WAIT, then Cook!

That’s right—just slice or chop your allium veggies, then let them sit for 10 minutes before heating them.

Allium Veggies? 🧅🧄 That's the family of garlic, onions, shallots, leeks, and scallions.

Every fresh allium veggie contains allin. When it's chopped or crushed, it turns into allianse. When we wait 10 minutes it reacts with the air and the allianse turns into allicin (pronounced Alison).

The quick pause is what allows allicin to form, maximizing these veggies' cancer-fighting power. (So yes, it’s worth the wait 😉.)

Allicin, the SUPER STAR!

  • Gut Health & Microbiome Support 🦠: Garlic is a natural prebiotic that supports healthy gut bacteria like Bifidobacteria.
  • Detox and Cancer Protection ❌: Compounds in garlic may detoxify carcinogens, block tumor growth and prevent blood flow to tumors (aka - anti-angiogenesis)
  • Reduce Inflammation & Improve DNA Repair 🌱: With 24 unique phytonutrients, garlic and other allium veggies are a nutritional powerhouse!

    (alliin🧄 + 🔪+ allianse + ⏰ = allicin 🙌)

Here’s How to Try It:

  1. Chop up your garlic, onions, or any other allium friends.
  2. Set a timer for 10 minutes and let them rest.
  3. Add them to your pan or pot and cook as usual.

This tiny tweak in prep time can make a huge difference! And no worries if you’re short on time—just chopping and using fresh still has its benefits. Just not quite as many. 😏 And the jarred minced garlic doesn't have much allicin and garlic powder has NONE.

Here's the science:

With hugs,
